Orlando Home and Garden Show: The Orlando Home and Garden Show is going on all weekend at the Orange County Convention Center! You’ll be able to see beautiful exhibits from professionals that encompass home improvement, gardening, landscaping, and more. Plus, designers and other industry experts will be there all weekend to give advice and also put on amazing demonstrations. Basically, it’s like Pinterest in a building! Tickets are just $9; the show starts today at noon until 7pm, and will run Saturday from 10am to 7pm and Sunday from 11am to 7pm. Be sure to take your notebook and your camera so you can get improving once you get home!
Northwestern Mutual Chili Cookoff: The rain is supposed to hold off, so why not get outside and get a sampling of the best chili in the city beautiful? The Northwestern Mutual Chili Cookoff is tomorrow at Festival Bay Park, kicking off at noon. It runs until 5pm and you’ll be able to not only see live music, but also try over 80 different chilis from local chili-masters and even compete in a chili-eating contest if it’s your calling. Tickets start at $15, and there will also be food other than chili for sale as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Get there early to get a good parking spot and wear your eating pants!
Blues-B-Q: Barbecue and blues – it doesn’t get much better on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The Blues-B-Q is taking place on City Commons Plaza this Saturday from 4pm-10pm, and three incredible local bands will be taking the stage! See Robert Randolph, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Three Forks Road play live blues music while you enjoy delicious barbecue and cold brews (don’t forget to get an uber if you’re going to be indulging in alcoholic beverages). And don’t forget to bring your chairs so you can get comfy!
Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone in Concert: Have a thing for the Harry Potter series? You don’t want to miss this magical event at the Dr. Phillips Center this weekend! On Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 1pm and 6:30pm, you’ll be able to watch Harry Potter on a giant screen while the Orlando Philharmonic plays the orchestral music live. Dress robes are optional, but encouraged!
