It’s that time of year again – time to bust out the mop and get your house sparkling clean again! Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a total drag, though – Toyota of Orlando has spring cleaning hacks to help you get your house whipped into shape and keep it that way all year round. Let’s get started!
Spring cleaning is easy with these simple hacks
Hack #1: Harness the power of lemons. Lemons can do a lot for your spring cleaning routine! Not only can you use half of a lemon to get rid of hard water stains on your bathroom and kitchen fixtures (just slice and wipe), you can also use them to keep your garbage disposal smelling fresh. Just slice up a lemon, drop it in an ice cube tray, top with vinegar, and freeze… as your disposal starts to smell, take a few of the cubes, drop them in, and grind them up!
Hack #2: Use a knife wrapped in a towel to clean hard to reach spots, like corners, vents, and small openings. Just put white vinegar or your preferred cleaning solution on the towel and get to work! You can also get those hard-to-reach spots that are dusty by shooting them with a can of compressed air.
Hack #3: Deep clean your microwave and dishwasher with a simple vinegar solution. Put a measuring cup full of vinegar in the top rack and run the dishwasher at the highest heat possible, and then sprinkle baking soda in the bottom and run it again. For your microwave, fill a measuring cup with a cup of water and a cup of vinegar and microwave for one minute. All of the gunk on the inside will wipe right off!
Hack #4: Get water stains off your glass shower with a dryer sheet! Wait until the glass dries and then wipe it down. You can also keep things spot-free in between showers by keeping a windshield squeegee in the shower and scraping the water off the glass quickly before you hop out. You can also make that squeegee work double duty and use it to get hair out of your carpets – just pull it along the rug and the rubber will make the hair ball up so you can easily remove it.
Keep your house clean all year long!
Hack #5: Use a pillowcase to clean your ceiling fans. It’s terrible to clean them because all the dust falls down onto the ground – instead, put the fan blade inside the pillowcase and pull the case off. All of the dust, hair and lint will fall into the case!
Hack #6: Clean grimy grout with a toothbrush, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda. Sprinkle the baking soda over wet grout and let it sit for a few minutes. Then dip the toothbrush in peroxide and get to scrubbing – they’ll be bright again in no time!
