December is here, which means it’s officially time to get into the holiday spirit! Luckily, there are a ton of affordable and family-friendly ways to do it here in the City Beautiful, and Toyota of Orlando has the scoop. Check out what’s going on this weekend in the Orlando area and break out your sleigh bells!
Polar Express, Holiday Film Festival: Friday, December 2, 11am at Orlando Public Library
Can you hear the bell? Round up the kiddos and bring them to the Orlando Public Library to watch this family-friendly holiday film and get into the spirit of things. It’s part of their holiday film festival going on all month. Best of all, it’s free!
Winter on the Avenue: Friday, December 2, 5pm at Central Park in Winter Park
Looking to REALLY get into the Christmas spirit? Winter on the Avenue, which takes place in picturesque Central Park, will feature a holiday tree lighting, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, live holiday jazz music, a merchant’s open house with refreshments, and a holiday art competition. You’ll also be able to check out Popcorn Flicks in the Park – tonight, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Santa Clause will be playing starting at 7pm! Plus, an ice skating rink will be open on the corner of Morse and New York if you feel like lacing up and hitting the ice.
Light Up UCF: November 18 – January 7, 5:30pm to 9:30pm, UCF Orlando campus
There’s no better way to get into the swing of holiday things out in east Orlando than to visit Light Up UCF. You’ll be able to bring the whole family along and enjoy activities like ice skating in Orlando’s largest ice skating rink, amazing Christmas light shows, movie nights, visits and pictures with Santa, horse and carriage rides, live reindeer, AND rides, including the Winter Whirl. Plus, snow will be falling all night to create a winter wonderland. Don’t miss out!
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation: Friday, December 2, 6pm at Harry P. Leu Gardens
Watch Chevy Chase and the family take on Christmas on the big screen as Harry P. Leu Gardens screens this classic holiday flick. It takes place on the lawn, so bring your blankets and picnic baskets – you can even bring in wine and beer. Plus, food trucks will be there if you don’t feel like doing prep work. Get into the holiday spirit with a good old-fashioned Griswold Christmas!
