4th of July weekend is quickly approaching – are you ready to brave the roads? This is the weekend to hit barbecues, backyard parties, and the beach… but there will definitely be a lot of other drivers out on the road with you finding holiday fun. That’s where our Orlando Toyota dealership comes into play! We have safe new cars for sale, but we also have a ton of driving safety tips for hitting the highway during the holidays. Use these tips to stay safe this weekend and throughout the rest of the year!
Holiday driving safety is simpler than you may think if you prepare!
Driving safety tip #1: Plan your route. You should know where you’re going in your Orlando Toyota and plan accordingly! Actually, pick TWO routes – you should have an alternate in case your main route is clogged with traffic or an accident. This will help make your travels smooth and take stress out of the equation. Use the navigation with turn-by-turn instructions that so many of our new Toyota in Orlando have to offer you!
Driving safety tip #2: Leave early. Like we said, a lot of cars will be out on the road this holiday weekend! This means more traffic and a higher chance of congestion and slow-downs. If you leave early, you can still arrive on time (and not have to rush or experience road rage). Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go!
Driving safety tip #3: Pay attention! Put away your distractions! This means putting your cell phone down (and utilizing the Bluetooth wireless streaming found in so many of our new Toyota cars in Orlando) and stopping all the fiddling you do with the radio. You should also avoid putting on makeup and other grooming while behind the wheel, as well as turning to talk to other passengers. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel to avoid accidents and collision. We know the fireworks are beautiful, but pull over if you’re tempted to watch them!
Driving safety tip #4: Look out for drunk drivers (and don’t be one yourself!). You should always be on the lookout for drunk drivers, but especially on holiday weekends. Signs include swerving, sudden starts and stops, and other erratic movements. If you spot a drunk driver, call the police and report the location and description of the car. Don’t try to follow them – this can lead to you getting in an accident in your Orlando Toyota.
Driving safety tip #5: Use defensive driving. This means leaving ample space in between you and the other cars around you, avoiding sudden braking or acceleration, using your turn signals, and turning on your headlights from dusk to dawn.
