On October 22, 2015 the Junior League of Greater Orlando will be hosting their annual Halloween Hustle 5K! This is a race that the JLGO puts on every year to help end childhood hunger. This event is the face of their fundraising efforts. Toyota of Orlando is excited to support this cause and event, in fact, a few of us here are participating in the race!
What is the Halloween Hustle?
On this Thursday, there will be events going on all day that is fun for the whole family. Not only is there the 5K run/walk, there is also a fun run for the kids and an after party with fun Halloween-themed activities. You don’t want to miss this! It will be a chance to have a lot of fun and help end childhood hunger while you’re doing it.
For an entry fee of just $30, you can enter to run (or walk) in the JLGO’s Halloween Hustle! This 5K race, or 3.1 miles, takes a path around the scenic view of the lake at Baldwin Park. Every entry includes a t-shirt as well! You can enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of nature while you participate in the race to end childhood hunger. The race starts at 6:30 p.m. and the awards are given at 7:40 p.m. Also at 7:40 is the costume contest! That’s right, this race is to be ran in Halloween costumes! Dress up as your favorite monster, celebrity, character or animal and head out to Baldwin Park for the Halloween Hustle 5K race!
The Fun Run
Since this race is all about the kids, there will also be a Kids Fun Run being put on! Kids 12 years old and younger can participate in a friendly fun run that begins at 5:45 p.m. Parents and families can cheer on their little runners before they race themselves!
The After Party
The fun doesn’t stop after everyone crosses the finish line! In the park there will be tons of activities for everyone to participate in. There will be inflatables, Halloween-themed carnival games and of course, trick-or-treating! Costumes are strongly encouraged for kids and adults alike! In addition to fun activities, Orlando’s Food Trucks will be there supplying spooky snacks and frightful foods. Live music will be played and refreshments like beer and wine will be served for ghosts and ghouls 21 and over.
How can you help the Junior League of Greater Orlando?
You don’t have to dress up or run to help end childhood hunger! The Junior League of Greater Orlando is accepting donations for their efforts to help end childhood hunger. This is an organization of women who are committed to promoting volunteerism and improving the community through action and leadership. This particular chapter has been around for 67 years and includes over 700 women who are dedicated to improving their community and the developing the potential of women.
The fun starts at 5 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m.! Bring the entire family out for a great time that will benefit a great cause.
