Take care of your car tires before you hit the open highway!
A lot of Orlando car tires maintenance can actually be done at home or at your local gas station without much fuss, but if you’re not sure about what you’re doing, go ahead and bring your ride into our Toyota Service Center for our techs to check it out. They can even give you some pointers!
- First, check the appearance of your tires. How do they look – do you see any bulging spots or cracks? Does the tire look damaged anywhere? You should check your tires about once a month, and anytime you plan on hitting the road for a longer trip.
- Check the tread once a month! You can do a tread test at home on your car tires. Stick a penny in the tread with Abe Lincoln’s head facing down. If you can see past his forehead, you’re running on thin tread and you need to get a new set of car tires in Orlando. Tread is essential for safety – it’s what provides traction and allows your car to grip the road… and it also affects your fuel efficiency. Why mess with it? Get a new set of tires for cheap at our Toyota Service Center!
- Check the tire pressure once a month, too! You’ll need to go by the owner’s manual for this one. If your tire pressure is too low, it can affect traction, performance, safety, and fuel efficiency so pop over to the gas station and fill ‘er up if your tire gauge says they’re low. Be careful not to overfill them, either – this can lead to a blowout.
- Get your car tires in Orlando balanced and rotated as needed (your owner’s manual can help you with this, or our Orlando Toyota Service techs), and be sure to replace them when recommended! You should also never replace just one tire at a time. The point of replacing them in pairs or sets is to ensure they wear evenly and thus perform better and have a longer life (and save you money).
