If you’re a fan of the original Orlando Scion FR-S, then you’re going to love the scoop we’ve got for you today – introducing the MegaScion FR-S! This incredible sports car concept was developed for the LA Motor Show, and it definitely got people’s attention when it was unveiled. In fact, Top Gear (a popular motorhead show in the UK) noticed the slick coupe and are already asking when it’ll be up for grabs for us regular car aficionados. That’s the problem, actually… this new Scion packs so much power that it’s not road-legal!
MegaScion FR-S will pack a HUGE punch in terms of horsepower
What is the MegaScion FR-S, and will we ever see it at our Orlando Toyota Scion dealership? Probably not. Basically, Toyota took this iconic sports car and amped it up. It now possesses features like:
- A Toyota Supra motor (drawing inspiration from another hugely popular Toyota sports car) – it’s a turbo-charged 3.0L inline straight-six engine, which translates to a whole lot more power because of the way that the cylinders are arranged. They’re all in a straight line along the engine, whereas a V6 engine uses two rows of cylinders. This six-in-a-row design makes for a lot more oomph. (We’ve heard some car enthusiasts say that “six in a row makes ’em go”, so you can guess just how incredible this car’s performance is going to be.)
- Because of its new engine, this Orlando Scion FR-S concept jumps from 200 horsepower to an absolutely incredible 750 horsepower – talk about improvement! You’ll also find 730 lb-ft of torque on your hands, as opposed to the original 151 lb-ft found in the traditional model!
- You’ll also see appearance enhancements when it comes to this dynamic concept of the Scion FR-S in Orlando – after all, its style has to match its new and improved performance. It’s rocking features like new front wings, racing seats and harnesses on the interior (an obvious choice), and new 19-inch wheels. It’s a slick silvery-white hue on the exterior, and you’ll find a new body kit thrown in with some seriously aggressive flair added to it (check out the lines and how pronounced they are).
Will we ever see this version of the Orlando Scion FR-S hit the streets?
Obviously, it’s not practical to take a car with 750 horsepower out on the streets in Central Florida (although we’re pretty sure it would be really, really fun). That’s why this new Scion isn’t street-legal, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to sit in the shop. Toyota is planning on testing it starting next year in February or so, because they’ve got big plans to use it as a racecar! It’ll be Ken Gushi’s ride of choice for the 2014 Formula Drift season, in which the this incredible Scion race car will be purposefully oversteered to allow it to slide or “drift” across the track.
