Did you know that the first year after a teen gets behind the wheel of a car is one of the most dangerous times of their entire lives? In fact, automobile crashes are the number one cause of death for teenagers. Even with all of the amazing safety technology that you’ll find in our new Toyota in Orlando, the roads are still a dangerous place to be and there are plenty of distractions available that can keep teens from concentrating on the task at hand. That’s why Toyota is taking steps to put safety first – they’re launching TeenDrive365!
Make sure your teen is safe when hitting the road in their Orlando Toyota
TeenDrive365 is a cache of driving safety resources that both teens and parents can utilize to help make this would-be dangerous year in a teen’s life that much safer! It offers a multitude of expert tips and advice for driving safely, online tools to make sure parents and teens are communicating about driving habits, local grassroots events, and social media. Its overall goal? To give parents the tools they need to inspire their children to drive safely! Teens will often mimic the driving behaviors they’re exposed to, so it’s important for adult Orlando Toyota drivers to set a good example.
Set a good example in your new Toyota!
Not sure if you’re setting the best example when you’re behind the wheel of your new Toyota in Orlando? We can help – we’ve got driving safety tips to share with you so you can set a shining example for all of your soon-to-be-drivers!
- First, do away with distractions when you’re hitting the road in your Orlando Toyota! Put down your cell phone – you need to keep your hands on the wheel, your eyes on the road, and your mind on the task at hand. Encourage teen drivers to follow suit. If you HAVE to take a phone call, try to utilize the Bluetooth streaming technology found in so many of our new Toyota so you don’t have to pick up your phone!
- Make sure you take things at an even pace. Follow the speed limit and leave plenty of room for all of your driving interactions, such as changing lanes or turning. Make sure you brake with room to spare to avoid a rear-end collision, take turns at a safe speed, and always indicate what you’re doing with turn signals.
- You should also be aware of what’s going on in your surroundings! Be sure to always check blind spots before changing lanes, and always look before turning to make sure another car or pedestrian isn’t in the path of your new Toyota. Also be sure to look twice when pulling out of parking spots, driveways, and alleys!
- Be sure that you’re able to be behind the wheel before you actually climb into the driver’s seat! Be aware of any medications that might cause you to be drowsy; driving when you’re tired can be extremely dangerous. You should also enforce a zero tolerance policy when it comes to alcohol – you don’t want to take any chances.
