Here’s a dilemma some drivers face: they love the sports car look and performance, but 1) don’t want to empty out their bank accounts to achieve it and 2) think that a sports car is just too impractical for their every day drive time. Get ready, Orlando Toyota Scion drivers – we’ve heard major rumors that the next Scion FR-S will be a sedan! It would be a seamless mix of functionality and versatility with a heavy dose of sporty style thrown in, as well as exciting performance capabilities to top it all off. Let’s take a closer look!
Sedan version of the Orlando Scion FR-S approved for next concept car
The 2014 Scion FR-S in Orlando is already extremely affordable – it kicks off at around $25,000, which makes it a viable option for a large pool of drivers. It also packs a big punch in terms of style and performance, and it looks like Scion is going to make sure those qualities are also encompassed by the sedan version of the popular new Scion, should it come to fruition! Here are some of the rumors that have been circulating in the automotive world:
- Not only will this new Scion in Orlando offer the engine for which it’s so well-known (a 2.0L 4-cylinder Boxer engine that churns our 200 horsepower), it would also be available in a hybrid model. We’ve heard rumors of a hybrid version of the iconic car before, but never mixed with a sedan style. This hybrid would apparently host a “Hybrid-R” technology, which would not only make it greener and more fuel-efficient by 10-15%, but also bump horsepower to around 250!
- The wheelbase would also be longer in this new Scion, partially to make more interior space for the coveted sedan design, but also partially to be able to house more new technology – the Kinetic Energy Recovery System. This innovative technology actually collects kinetic energy while the car is braking to utilize for power in the hybrid system under the hood.
- This new Scion would be aimed towards an older demographic; traditionally, Scion cars are usually designed to appeal to a younger generation with their quirky style and affordable price tags. This sporty sedan would definitely have unique style and affordability on its side, but would also weave in a practical element in order to appeal to drivers who want a solid mix for their driving experiences.
- We could very likely see this version of the Orlando Scion FR-S at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 2014 as a concept car (alongside the incredible sports car concept that Toyota and BMW have been collaborating on), and see it here at our showroom sometime in 2015-2016!
