As we’re sure you probably know by now, we’re big on keeping up with routine auto service here at our Toyota Service Center in Orlando! It’s essential to give your car the tools it needs in order to maintain a high-level performance and a long life, which is why we urge people to stick to the recommended maintenance schedules outlined for their vehicles. Oil changes, wheel rotations, tune-ups – it’s a long list, but it’s necessary to keep your car running in tip-top condition. One of the most common routine auto maintenance elements? Maintaining your car’s fluids!
How can you check car fluids outside of our Orlando Toyota Service Center?
We provide this auto service in Orlando at our Toyota Service Center, but you can also check up on things periodically at home! Maintaining your car’s fluids is essential, but luckily, it’s also easy. You can at least check the fluids on your own, and then bring your car into our Toyota Service Center for the more challenging steps that ensue. Let’s take a closer look at how you can handle this step of routine auto maintenance on your own!
Coolant: Coolant is exceptionally important, especially here in Central Florida. With scorching hot temps for a good part of the year, this car fluid is essential to keep you engine running smoothly. You can check coolant levels visually (make sure your car is off and cooled down before you attempt this, however, just in case); the coolant tank is usually a plastic reservoir near the middle of the engine. If the fluid is below the indicator mark, you need to top it off – our Orlando Toyota Service Center can easily take care of that for you!
Engine Oil: You know well by now if you’ve read our blogs that oil changes in Orlando are a vital part of your car’s health. You can check engine oil at home and even top it off yourself! Pull out the oil dipstick and check both the level of the oil, as well as the color. It should meet the marker on the dipstick and be a tan-yellowish color. If the level is low, you can top it off (be careful not to overfill). If the color is darker than normal, you might be due for an oil change, so bring it on into our auto service center!
Brake Fluid: You want your brakes working at maximum capacity whenever you get behind the wheel, which is why it’s important to keep an eye on the brake fluid. This particular reservoir is located behind the engine compartment. It’s usually made of clear plastic so you can visually check the level to make sure it’s full enough. It it’s not hitting the 2/3 mark (at least), then you should bring your car in to have your brake system checked to ensure there’s no leaks or other problems!
