If you’re a fan of the show Breaking Bad (a crowd favorite on AMC), you’re probably well aware that a well-known Toyota has a starring role on the show alongside actors like Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. The vehicle of choice for Jesse Pinkman – main character Walter White’s partner in crime – is a 4WD Toyota Tercel! Apparently, this particular model was chosen by the show’s creators for its “low profile”, and it certainly fulfills that motive – as you can see, the car wouldn’t exactly stand out in a crowd! This particular Toyota would retail for about $5,000 if it were one of our Orlando used cars, but since it’s got a bit of notoriety behind it, it’ll probably fetch a much higher price. It’s up for grabs in Albuquerque, NM at a local dealer – it’s actually leased by Sony for use in the show, and they’ve instructed the dealer not to sell the car until the show finishes up at the end of this summer… so you might have to wait a bit! In the meantime, why not check out all of the used Toyota in Orlando we’ve got up for grabs?
The Toyota Tercel made quite a name for itself during its lifetime, which spanned from 1978 to 2000. It’s actually pretty similar to the Orlando Toyota Corolla in that it’s affordable, sporty, and a smaller sedan style. It was originally introduced in Japan, and when it first came to the United States in 1980 it was actually named the Toyota Corolla Tercel. They dropped the “Corolla” part in 1982, however, when it was redesigned and became available in both three- and five-door liftback options, as well as a four-door station wagon model. It was also the first time that the new Toyota model was available in four-wheel drive, adding even more versatility to its driving capabilities! It was also the most affordable new Toyota in America at the time, a designation that it upheld for most of its life!
The next Toyota Tercel in the lineup was the 1987 model, which introduced another redesign and a bit more interior room for the popular and affordable option. You would also be privy to a new engine in this model, as well as an “EZ” model that integrated rubber floor mats, a vinyl interior (both incredibly easy to clean) and a four-speed manual transition. It definitely lived up to its name! A fourth generation of this Toyota was brought to the table in 1991 – this new Toyota in Orlando would have been available as a coupe or a sedan. The fifth generation, introduced in 1994, was the final frontier for the popular Toyota Tercel. It featured an entirely new look and design, as well as a new engine. However, 2000 was the last year of its life, and other Toyota models soon took its place.
