New Toyota in Orlando win yet another award!
Toyota is well-known for their safety research efforts, and it looks like it’s paying off! The IIHS bases their Top Safety Pick statuses on performance elements like:
- Rear impact
- Small overlap frontal crash
- Moderate overlap frontal crash
- Side impact
Each vehicle that’s named a Top Safety Pick must rank in these tests, based on a scale developed by IIHS. Basically, the institute wants to measure the overall crash-worthiness and safety of the vehicle, so this award isn’t something to be taken lightly! Toyota of Orlando has a comprehensive list of all of our vehicles that took the designation home this year! We’re proud to announce that the following cars were named 2013 IIHS Top Safety Picks:
- 2013 Toyota Yaris
- 2013 Toyota Corolla
- 2013 Toyota Prius
- 2013 Toyota Prius c
- 2013 Toyota Prius v (meaning the entire Orlando Toyota Prius family made the list)

Toyota safety research is a top priority
Like we said, Toyota is a leading researcher in automotive safety. They have a facility in Ann Arbor Michigan called the Collaborative Safety Research Center, and this is where they conduct and implement all of their safety research. They pair with local and national organizations and institutions to make the most of this effort, teaming up with hospitals, universities, and other federal agencies. Their goal is to find a way to reduce the amount of traffic fatalities that occur to to crashes, and also to reduce the number of auto accidents that occur. In fact, in 2012 they devoted over $50 million over the course of the next five years to achieving these goals and implementing the results in all of their new Toyota models!
